Saint John Chrysostom Clothing Corner

On 9th June 2016 the Saint John Chrysostom Clothing Corner was open during the quarterly TEFAP food distribution servicing a number of neighbors living on the northwest side of Grand Rapids.  Thanks to the generous outpouring of donations from the members of St. John Chrysostom Russian Orthodox Church, Gold Avenue Church CRC, and many other individuals, participants were able to find items to help meet their individual needs and alleviate their burdens.  The Clothing Corner will continue its free clothing ministry throughout the summer by utilizing the fence along Veto and National Avenues on most Sunday mornings from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM as weather permits.

Caring for our community

On March 3, 2016 Saint John Chrysostom Clothing Corner partnered with the local food pantries during the quarterly TEFAP food distribution held at a neighboring church.  The parish of Saint John Chrysostom opened their basement during this distribution to welcome the residents of Northwest Grand Rapids and offered free clothing, books, toys and much more.  Many residents expressed their gratitude for this ministry sharing the struggles that they are facing and how the free clothing is helping them and their families.  It is the goal of the Clothing Corner to continue providing clothing to those with need between now and the next quarterly distribution on June 2, 2016 using the outdoor fence during weekend service times when weather permits..
